Denver, February 6th, 2017 – Regis University announced today it will join Catalyst HTI, a health-tech innovation campus in the River North Art District (RiNo) slated to open next spring.
As a higher education partner, Regis’ College of Computer & Information Science (CC&IS) will bring its expertise in health informatics, data science and cybersecurity to Catalyst HTI, collaborating with other health-tech industry leaders, such as Hitachi Inc., the American Diabetes Association and the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus to transform the digital health environment. Health informatics focuses on the safe collection and management of digital health information.
“Regis is proud to be a partner in this new kind of health-tech venture at Catalyst HTI,” said CC&IS Dean Shari Plantz-Masters. “It signals we are involved in helping solve problems within our society, which dovetails so well with the Regis mission of educating and inspiring our future leaders to have a positive effect on the world.”
The University will launch its new Consortium on Computing for the Common Good – a group of companies, nonprofits and academic institutions working to bring a passion for computing to underserved populations. One focus of the consortium will be to increase participation of the underserved in tech-related industries. It also will develop solutions for common tech challenges and will serve as a “boot camp” for industry professionals – those interested in expanding their expertise to advance their tech-industry careers.
“We are thrilled to have Regis University as a member of our community,” says Mike Biselli, president of Catalyst HTI. “Regis is a leader in cybersecurity and the protection of health care information. The College of Computer & Information Science’s ability to attract industry leaders to join its faculty will help us accelerate our health care innovations.”
Regis was the first Colorado university to receive designation as a National Center of Excellence in Information Assurance Education by the National Security Agency and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. CC&IS will leverage its partnerships at Catalyst to grow Regis’ visibility and stature as a top-ranked university offering computer science degrees. Regis University was ranked 9th in a 2014 USA Today survey of top computer information systems programs; the University placed in the top 30 in U.S. News & World Report’s 2013 ranking of accredited online computer science programs.
“Denver is the epicenter for health care and health-tech innovation in the United States, and thanks to Catalyst HTI, Regis University will be able to recruit and retain some of the best academic minds in the country,” said Plantz-Masters. “Regis is excited to be on the cutting edge of what we know will be a larger movement – of large corporations, nonprofits, tech startups and academic partners working with other medical professionals with a shared vision: improving life for everyone.”
CC&IS undergraduate programs in Computer Science Computer Information Systems, and Information Technology are ABET accredited. Classes are offered in several formats, including in campus classrooms and online, to meet the needs of various student populations.
Catalyst HTI is an industry integrator, bringing together relevant stakeholders in health-tech innovation – from single-person startups and Fortune 500 companies to nonprofit organizations and health care providers – to build a community in which collaboration and integration lead to accelerated innovation within the industry. Located in Denver’s burgeoning RiNo district and developed by Koelbel and Company, phase one of Catalyst HTI is slated to open in the first quarter of 2018.
