Denver, CO- September 13, 2018- Today, SleepImage announced that it is relocating its operations to the recently opened Catalyst Health-Tech Innovation building in Denver’s RiNo district. SleepImage comes to this innovation hub from a long-standing worldwide leadership role in sleep diagnostics to address the unique role sleep has in the future of healthcare.
“Sleep has a disproportional effect on overall health and wellness, and it is the only thing we are designed to spend a third of our lives doing, for a good reason. It prevents the onset of chronic diseases and it helps cure illness,” said Bogi Palsson, SleepImage CEO. “It is important to track sleep health regularly over time and we strive to provide metrics that are easy to understand for the lay person, yet medically actionable to enable access to the right care at the right time for efficient use of healthcare resources.”
Catalyst HTI has a vision of fostering integration and collaboration to break down silos and create an ecosystem led by visionaries in healthcare, under one roof, to reimagine how healthcare is perceived by consumers and delivered by industry, through promotion of wellness and curing of illness.
Catalyst HTI President Mike Biselli said “having SleepImage as a Catalyst HTI community member is an important part of achieving our goals of integration and collaboration by industry leaders to help individuals take control and ownership of their health for preventative reasons, based on medically valid and actionable data. Sleep is the perfect time to capture a person’s picture of health, where a common sleep language can integrate preventative consumer wellness and evidence-based clinical care!”
“Through the dynamics of the Catalyst members and their extensive roles in healthcare delivery, this is an exciting opportunity to democratize sleep to fully utilize the most important hours of life for healthy living. Proactively managing sleep as part of routine clinical care can have a meaningful and measurable impact on public health,” said Dr. Solveig Magnusdottir, SleepImage Chief Medical Officer.
SleepImage is evidence-based, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) compliant and FDA-cleared software as a medical device. For the first time clinicians have access to a “unit of measure” for sleep health, the Sleep Quality Index (SQI). SleepImage is based on coupling cardiovascular and respiratory data collected during sleep, that can be collected by wearable devices through to hospital monitors to provide medically actionable data. SleepImage presents a common sleep language, measuring sleep quality, sleep quantity and sleep pathology that has been termed as a true “prosumer” solution. Consequences of chronic short sleep duration and untreated sleep disorders are linked to the onset and progression of serious and prevalent chronic diseases like heart disease, high blood pressure, obesity, diabetes and increase all-cause mortality.
